A warrant is out for Marcus Vick after he failed to appear in court. A lawyer for Michael Vick’s brother said that Vick was unemployed and in Atlanta, thus, that’s why he couldn’t appear in the Hampton Circuit court. Yeah, good luck with that defense.

Meanwhile, here’s more on the story:

Vick’s attorney, Lawrence Woodward, told the judge that Vick was unemployed in Atlanta and couldn’t get to court. Woodward told Taylor that his client said he “just wanted to do the 10 days” for the June 2011 suspended license charge.

Vick, 28, is a former standout quarterback at Warwick High School and Virginia Tech and the brother of Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Michael Vick.

In March, a Newport News judge ordered Marcus Vick to serve 10 days in jail on a contempt of court charge. The charge stemmed from Vick failing to appear in court twice for a 2010 driving on a suspended license charge.

After completing his 10-day jail stay in Newport News, Marcus Vick was transferred to Montgomery County for an outstanding warrant for repeatedly failing to attend court-ordered hearings in a civil case.

Those hearings are in regard to a lawsuit brought by a woman who claimed Marcus Vick caused her psychological trauma by having sex with her when he was a 19-year-old player at Tech and she was a 15-year-old high school student.

Marcus Vick agreed in 2008 to pay $40,000 plus attorney fees to settle that case, but had not paid any of it, the plaintiff’s lawyer said.
