Missy Elliott is set to give fans a couple of new songs this weekend. The hip-hop star’s longtime collaborator Timbaland recently shared the news on Twitter, explaining that Missy would be dropping tracks called “9th Inning” and “Triple Threat” over the Labor Day holiday. Elliott has been largely absent from the music scene since she released her last studio album, “The Cookbook,” in 2005. The follow-up to that record was reportedly slated to come out this summer, although nothing had materialized until now. Missy was also rumored to be working on an upcoming posthumous Aaliyah album with Timbaland and Drake, although her manager has since explained that she isn’t involved in the project at all.
