Paul McCartney was a surprise performer at multimillionaire businessman Ronald Perelman‘s third annual fundraiser for New York City’s famed Apollo Theater, held Saturday at the mogul’s estate in East Hampton, New York.  BusinessWeek.com reports that the Beatles legend joined The Isley Brothers during the bash for a version of the memorable tune “Twist and Shout,” which was a hit for both the soul group and the Fab Four.

According to the New York Post, McCartney saluted the Apollo during the show, while pointing out how influential the venue was to The Beatles.  “Where would we have been without you?” he remarked.  “In Liverpool, we would have stayed there.” READ MORE
