Adele is expected to play a prominent role in the upcoming London Olympics closing ceremony.  “The Guardian” reports organizers behind the event have announced plans to end the games with a two-and-a-half-hour celebration of Britain’s best music, ranging from the recent Grammy and BRIT-winner to classical composer Sir Edward Elgar.  Creator Kim Gavin promises an “elegant mash-up” for what’s been dubbed “A Symphony of British Music.”  And while he confirmed Adele’s music will be part of the ceremony, he refused to say whether the London-born singer will be making an appearance herself.

Meanwhile, Blur, New Order and the Specials have been confirmed to play a concert in Hyde Park that will take place simultaneously with the closing ceremony, scheduled for August 12th.
