Despite their popularity, R&B artist Lloyd had decided to pass on signing with Lil’ Wayne’s record label Young Money.

The singer has instead reportedly signed a deal with Interscope Records.

In an interview with MTV.com, Lloyd explained, “The problem is that Young Money/Cash Money is exclusive to Universal/ Motown.”

Even though that is where he produced his last two albums, Lloyd, “was not excited,” about working with the label again.

When asked about his relationship with Interscope and working with chairman Jimmy Iovine and producer Polow Da Don, Lloyd said, “I love the way Interscope gets down,” Lloyd said. “I love the way Jimmy gets down. I’ve always had a good working relationship with Polow. Having that creative partner is something I wanted to have, since the very beginning, to have that one creative partner.”
