Katy Perry is gearing up to take on a different kind of role this weekend. The pop star will be hosting a new episode of “Saturday Night Live,” which will also feature musical guest Robyn. Perry jokes with MTV News that the gig is “a bit more” than the hosting duties she’s used to at birthday and dinner parties, but adds that she’s always up for the challenge. Perry says she’s also been getting advice from husband Russell Brand, who hosted the sketch comedy show back in February. And while she didn’t want to give too much away, Katy did say fans can look forward to some Hello Kitty, cockney accents and probably her flubbing a few lines.
Perry also says she’s likely to laugh out loud at Emmy-nominated “SNL” castmember Kristen Wiig, who she calls “amazing.” In fact, she says it’s been great working with the entire cast, adding that she feels “supercool” just to “be in the same breathing space as them.” Fans can catch all of Perry’s comedy skills when this week’s “Saturday Night Live” gets under way at 11:30 p.m. Eastern on NBC.
