THIS WEEKEND AT THE BOX OFFICE:
As expected, The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1 is dominating the box office.
The movie debuted to $72 million on Friday, the second-biggest single-day opening in history, and is now on pace for $140 million for the weekend.
That total includes the $30.25 million “midnight” screenings haul Breaking Dawn earned before dawn broke.
Happy Feet Two, the animated penguin romp, will open in second place with approximately $23 million.
Last week’s two big movies – Immortals and Jack and Jill – will tangle for #3. Both films are tracking toward $12 million in their second weekends.
Puss in Boots is also in the neighborhood of $12 million in initial estimates.
Things drop off after that, with caper comedy Tower Heist projected to earn about $7.5 million for the weekend, just ahead of Leonardo DiCaprio‘s J. Edgar ($6.5 million).
A Very Harold and Kumar 3D Christmas is on pace for roughly $3.5 million.
The Top 10 Chart finishes with sci-fi action flick In Time ($2 million) and the George Clooney drama The Descendants at $1 million in limited release.

17-year-old Conrad Hilton crashed into two parked vehicles shortly before 1:00 a.m.
According to law enforcement sources, he exchanged information with one of the damaged cars’ owners and a witness before leaving.
There were no injuries.
Hilton’s car was eventually towed.
Barron Hilton Paris’ other brother, has an unfortunate history with automobiles.
In 2008, Barron, then 18, struck gas station attendant Fernando Tellez with his Mercedes.
ANOTHER CELEB ATTENDS MARINE CORPS. BALL
Kristin Cavallari showed her patriotism on Thursday night, becoming the latest celebrity to attend a Marine Corps Ball.
The reality star accepted Lance Cpl. Jonathan Burkett‘s Twitter invite last August, and was as good as her word, accompanying Burkett to the gala at Pechanga Casino and Resort in Temecula, California.
She told local reporters that she was thrilled to be invited.
“I just thought, why not? It’s a nice way to say thank you for everything that he’s done for our country.”
She added, “Seeing the faces of the people fighting for our country, it just puts everything in perspective.”
After the dance, Burkett tweeted Cavallari’s boyfriend, NFL quarterback Jay Cutler, to sing Cavallari’s praises: “Hey man, glad she was able to come! You have an awesome gf and hopefully wife!”
Cavallari herself wrote, “Had a great time at the marine ball.”
