It’s not just celebrities who are supporting the Occupy Wall Street protesters.  While a number of stars, including Susan Sarandon, Russell Simmons, Michael Moore, and Yoko Ono, have voiced their approval of the movement, nearly 90-percent of the respondents in an poll also say they are in favor of the demonstrations.  Just eleven-percent don’t like what they’re doing.  Occupy Wall Street launched in New York City a few weeks ago, with its origins in Manhattan’s Zuccotti Park.

Demonstrators are protesting against corporate greed, wealth inequality, and the influence of big money in Washington.  The movement has been growing and is spreading across the country.  In addition to New York, Occupy Wall Street demonstrations have been taking place in Washington, DC as well as New Jersey, Texas, Nevada, California, Arizona, Louisiana and a number of other states including Indianapolis.

More than 1,000 people gathered Saturday at Veterans Memorial Plaza to take part in Occupy Indianapolis. The protest was largely organized online through Facebook and other websites.
