Rick Ross is catching some flak for calling his latest album “Teflon Don.”  Legendary New York mobster John Gotti first held the nickname”Teflon Don,” and his grandson believes Ross should have asked before he used the name for his fourth studio release.  Carmine Agnello tells the “New York Daily News,” quote, “He should have asked for permission.  A stand-up, respectable guy would come and ask, ‘If I could use the nickname.'”  Agnello says he respects Rick Ross as an emcee, but believes you shouldn’t just take someone’s name to help your career.  He remarks, quote, “My grandfather paid his dues for that nickname.  That was my grandfather’s life.”  Agnello also took a shot at Rick Ross’ previous career as a prison guard adding, quote, “Only in America can you go from being a corrections officer to calling yourself Teflon Don.”  John Gotti, aka “The Teflon Don,” died in prison in 2002.

This isn’t the first time that Rick Ross has angered someone with his use of a name.  Former drug kingpin “Freeway” Ricky Ross attempted to block the release of “Teflon Don,” claiming the rapper was using his name and likeness to help his career.  The injunction was eventually dismissed, and Rick Ross’ “Teflon Don” was released as planned on Tuesday.
