Here’s some promising news for Survivor fans: Though CBS has yet to announce whether the nearly 10-year-old show will end after the upcoming “Heroes Vs Villians” edition that begins Feb. 11, the network just announced a casting call contest for future cycles of the show. Through Feb. 21, the network is teaming with Sears to give fans a chance to upload short videos of themselves that will be whittled down and reviewed by the Survivor casting team. Viewers also will get a chance to weigh in on the potential castaways.

A CBS source confirmed that the network has already starting funding pre-production of Survivor 21, which is traditionally a precursor to a formal order. CBS, in fact, has a few ducks to line up before it fires up production on yet another cycle: The contract for two-time Emmy-winning host Jeff Probst is also up this season.

After 19 cycles, Survivor remains a key player for CBS. Last fall’s edition in Samoa ranked in the Top 20 (13.5 million)
