HOLMBY HILLS ( KTLA) — A 36-year-old man who fell from a tree to his death in Holmby Hills over the weekend may have been trying to get onto the grounds of the Playboy mansion, authorities say.

LAPD homicide detectives tell KTLA the body of Anthony Washington of Santa Monica was discovered near the back fence of the Playboy Mansion Friday. His death is being classified as ‘accidental’ and there are no signs of foul play.

Los Angeles police officers were called to the mansion Friday afternoon after someone reported the discovery of a ‘possibly drunk man’ on the ground on the golf course of the Los Angeles Country Club. Washington’s body was found next to a tree on the ground. It’s believed that he fell to his death when a branch broke.

Washington had been detained at the Playboy mansion hours before his body was discovered and may have been trying to get back onto the property, officials say. Washington had been detained by security earlier in the day, but he was not arrested.

It’s unclear what injuries Washington suffered in the fall.
