British actor Peter Vaughan, best known for roles in Game of Thrones and Porridge, has died at the age of 93.
According to his agent, he died peacefully with his family around him.
“This is to confirm that very sadly Peter Vaughan has passed away at approximately 10.30 this morning,” Vaughan’s agent, Sall Long-Innes, confirmed in a statement. “He died peacefully with his family around him.”
Over the years, Vaughan became known for many shows including playing Harry “Grouty” Grout on BBC sitcom Porridge. Not to mention other shows like Citizen Smith, Chancer and Our Friends in the North.
However he rose to high fame again playing Maester Aemon of the Night’s Watch on HBO’s Game of Thrones.
