Iggy Azalea is making her way into television production.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the Aussie rapper recently signed a deal with Universal Cable Productions and Wilshire Studios to create millennial-targeted programming focused on topics ranging from social justice to women’s empowerment.
Azalea said in a statement:
“Creating television that is reflective of my generation has always been an aspiration of mine. I am incredibly excited to start working on my ideas and am humbled that Universal Cable Production and Wilshire Studios have given me this once-in-a-life opportunity.”
Azalea already has production under her belt. Currently a judge on The X Factor Australia, she has also directed many of her music videos.
Universal Cable Productions and Wilshire are ecstatic to work with her, saying:
“Iggy is a strong, passionate voice for her generation and has incredible creative instincts in all aspects of media,” Dawn Olmstead, Executive VP of Development at UCP and Wilshire Studios, told The Hollywood Reporter. “We already have projects in both the scripted and non-scripted areas. We are very excited to have her join forces with us.”
