San Antonio Spurs v Los Angeles Clippers - Game Two

The L.A. Clippers post-season run is effectively over. The Clip’s best players, Chris Paul (CP3) and Blake Griffin, have suffered season-ending injuries. CP3 is out with a broken hand and has already undergone surgery.

“Paul had to undergo surgery on Tuesday morning to repair the fracture in his right hand. The Clippers released a statement on the team’s website regarding Paul’s status for the remainder of the playoffs. “Paul will be out indefinitely,” the Clippers said regarding Paul. Also, in a separate statement from the team, they said that Paul will be re-evaluated in four-to-six weeks. Basically, he’s done for the rest of the playoffs.”

Adding insult to, ahem, injury, Blake Griffin re-injured the quadricep that caused him to miss 45 games earlier this year.

“An MRI on Tuesday showed that Griffin aggravated the same quad injury that caused him to miss 45 regular season games—including his suspension for decking the Clippers equipment manager in January— dating back to December 26th.”

This obviously couldn’t come at a worse time. CP3 is somewhat notorious for his playoff woes. Blake Griffin’s been in the league for five years, but he’s never even sniffed the Western Conference Finals. With Golden State missing Steph Curry, if they’d have gotten past the Blazers, this opportunity would’ve been L.A.’s best chance to reach the Finals in years. As it stands, there’s no guarantee that they’ll beat Portland and given that Golden State is still pretty good, they can kiss that dream goodbye.
