Drake, Lil Wayne, Nicki Minaj

We’re excited to report Nicki Minaj and Drake have both been nominated for the 2015 TIME Person of the Year award. Drake nabbed a nomination thanks to his platinum-selling mixtape If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late, his unanimous win over Meek Mill, and his instant hit “Hotline Bling.”

Nicki was also recognized for a ton of reasons, including her increased commentary on race, gender, and sexuality, her VMAs performance, and world tour.

Fetty Wap Visits Music Choice

Is Fetty Wap a feminist? MC Lyte sure thinks so, and she may have a point.

The legendary female rapper has a voice we can’t dismiss, and apparently she feels the same about Fetty’s lyrics. While at a roundtable discussion at the White House Council on Women and Girls, MC Lyte had this to say about the fairly new artist and his love for women.

From Complex:

“He may have a very unique way of presenting his ideas, but he does love women,” she said. “For what he’s up against in this climate with all of the other emcees, he’s taking a stand. He’s being pretty courageous right now with what it is that he presents in his music. Because it’s really not the norm.”

She also pointed to artists like Kendrick LamarBig SeanCommon, and Talib Kweli for discussing women in a respectful way in their music, and urged all rappers to realize they needed to take responsibility for the content of their lyrics.

You’ve got to love Fetty.

Bindi Irwin topped her emotional Dancing with the Stars performance with a tear-jerking photo of her late dad. Posing as a family, Bindi is pictured with her father Steve Irwin, brother, and mom.
