#Freethenipple has been garnering a lot of support in the last year or so. Hoping to highlight the double standards between male and female nudity, the controversial campaign has seen a number of stars strip off and pledge their allegiance to the cause. This includes Miley Cyrus, Tallulah Willis and Cara Delevingne – and, as of yesterday, Naomi Campbell.

The fashion icon posted a topless picture to her Twitter and Instagram accounts on Wednesday, both accompanied by the #freethenipple hashtag.

However, despite the fact she looks amazing and really not very offensive, Instagram wasn’t having it. Within a few hours, the site had removed the image for violating its strict terms of use. In other words, there was a little too much nipple.

It’s not the first time this has happened, either. In a previous statement explaining why the site doesn’t stand for nudity, a spokesperson said: “We know that there are times when people might want to share nude images that are artistic or creative in nature, but for a variety of reasons, we don’t allow nudity on Instagram.”

The black and white portrait, taken from Garage magazine, is a sneak peek of her upcoming two volume TASCHEN book, and was shot by renowned photographers Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott.
