The media frenzy Winehouse attracted, paired with her raw and undeniable talent, was substantial enough to keep onlookers fascinated with her life – even after she met her fatal end. The documentary film Amy, just recently released on July 10, only further illustrates people’s interest in finding closure following her untimely passing.

In accordance with her amassed notoriety, Winehouse is often cited as influence to some of the music industry’s foremost women, such as Lana Del Rey, Lady Gaga, and Ellie Goulding.

Notably a member of the unofficial 27 Club, of which Kurt Cobain, Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, and some 50 other musicians are members, Winehouse passed away on this day in July 2011.
