The Colt’s game today wasn’t just about taking home a win against the Tennessee Titans. For a few Colts players, it was also about paying tribute former Titans kicker Rob Bironas, who was tragically killed last weekend in a car accident.
When the news hit, Colts punter Pat McAfee and kicker Adam Vinatieri expressed sympathy for the family of Bironas and paid their respects to their longtime friend.
“It’s one of those things where Vinatieri, myself, Matt Overton and the guys that operate on fourth down are kind of in a brotherhood together,” McAfee said.
“Especially a guy (like Bironas), who was in the AFC South. If you think about it, last year, he was playing in this stadium. We had a moment before the game where we thought about Rob. It’s a sad situation. He was a great dude and a hell of a kicker. Our thoughts are going to be with him for a long time. It’s shame the way things turn out, but it teaches us to enjoy every moment.”
And at the game today, McAfee, Vinatieri and Overton all paid tribute by wearing “RIP RB 2” t-shirts before the game.
Leave it to these three to show how big their hearts are. Way to go 4th Down Playas.
