Vince Vaughn will join Colin Farrell for True Detective season two, HBO confirmed on Tuesday. The eight-episode season is set to begin production in California shortly. According to the HBO press release, Farrell will star as Ray Velcoro, “a compromised detective whose allegiances are torn between his masters in a corrupt police department and the mobster who owns him.” Vaughn will portray Frank Semyon, “a career criminal in danger of losing his empire when his move into legitimate enterprise is upended by the murder of a business partner.” The first two episodes will be directed by Justin Lin of the Fast & Furious franchise.
It’s hard to picture the actor doing a serious role considering he is usually hilarious playing a comedic role. All I’m hoping for in the upcoming season of ‘True Detective’ is to at least drop the ‘earmuffs’ reference once!
