According to the UK’s Daily Mirror, Kate Middleton is going against royal tradition and asking her mother to move in with her at their new home at Kensington Palace, so she can be a nanny to the royal baby.

Kate has no plans to employ a maternity nurse or nanny and will turn to her mom, Carole, instead for help with the new royal addition.

I mean, after all, her mom DID raise a princess…so obviously she did something right.

The Duchess is believed to have told friends that she will move into her parent’s home in Berkshire for the first six weeks after the birth (since the $1 million+ renovation to their “apartment” at Kensington Palace is not finished yet. But when it is, sounds like they will ALL be headed to the palace.

A professional “childminder”–aka nanny– is usually brought in by the monarchy, but Kate and William and definitely new age royals, and they are all about going against some traditions. And I LOVE Kate’s independent princess attitude.

The move into William’s mother Princess Diana’s former home at Kensington Palace will be a remarkable step up for Carole, who once worked as a British Airways stewardess before launching her own online party business called Party Pieces, which started from the kitchen table of her home in Bucklebury, Berkshire. (Which turned into a million-dollar business…so obviously independence [and awesomeness] runs in Kate’s family)

Go Kate! Love how she still stays close to her family, like a normal girl. See, maybe the royals needed a “commoner” like Kate to come in and shake things up!
