We’ve seen Prince William and Kate Middleton’s royal baby and now they have officially announced his name:

George Alexander Louis

 

And those placing bets look like they will be cashing in, since all THREE of these names were near the top of the list.

George was also the name of Queen Elizabeth II’s father, AKA baby George’s great great grandfather. And since he will be 3rd in line for the British throne, someday he will be known as King George VII.

Honestly, I understand there’s lots of tradition that goes into name selection in the royal family, but I’m not loving George. I was not-so-secretly hoping they would go against tradition and name him Spencer, after Princess Diana’s maiden name). No offense to Georges everywhere—-after all, my grandpa was named George—but, now I can only envision Kate Middleton giving birth to a little old man, like Benjamin Button….
