According to the New York Daily News, the shocking death of “Glee” actor Cory Monteith left his girlfriend Lea Michele “devastated” and pleading for privacy Sunday as Canadian authorities prepared to conduct an autopsy.

Police were still hunting for answers to what caused the death of Monteith, who played Finn Hudson on Glee.

“We have interviewed everyone he was with the night before,” Vancouver Police Constable Brian Montague said Sunday. “For the most part, it has been turned to the coroner’s office, who will be determining the next steps with respect to establishing cause of death.”

Lea Michele– who recently said in an interview that “no one knows me better than Cory” — was in Mexico when news of Monteith’s death reached her.

“She is devastated,” a source said. “She was shaking when she heard the news.”

Her spokeswoman later sent out a statement, saying, “We ask that everyone kindly respect Lea’s privacy during this devastating time.”

Monteith had gone public with a nearly two-decade battle with substance abuse. He first used drugs at 13, he has said, and went through rehab at least twice, completing his latest stint in April, so some of his “Glee” cast-mates are expecting the worst.

Monteith had checked into his room on the 21st floor of the Pacific Rim on July 6 and was scheduled to check out Saturday.
