According to HipHopWired.com, in a recent interview with Vibe magazine, rapper T.I. says he is totally sober and comes clean about the circumstances surrounding the incident that has him currently serving an 11-month bid for probation violation.

T.I. and his wife Tiny were arrested in September for possession of a controlled substance, after they were pulled over in West Hollywood and found in possession of ecstasy. While the case was eventually dropped, a judge found him in violation of his probation stemming from a 366-day prison stint for attempting to purchase illegal guns and sentenced him to another 11 months in jail.

In the interview from the December issue of Vibe, T.I. tells the magazine that he acquired an addiction to pain pills after receiving a prescription following a post jail dental surgery.

“After the pain went away, I kept taking it. I had like five, six prescriptions. So, I had, like 80 pills. Everybody else might drink or smoke a blunt; I took a pain pill,” the 30-year-old tells the magazine.

Prior to going back to jail, the rapper attended therapy sessions to help kick his addiction to pills and codeine, which he was drinking to get high.

In hindsight, Tip also admits to the magazine that his vices were selfish and claims that it’s another lesson learned.

“If you rationalize putting yourself in harm’s way, risking your well-being, your health, your freedom, your family’s well-being and livelihood in order to be high, that’s the rationale of an addict.”

T.I.’s wife Tameka Cottle, was arrested with T.I. and faces a misdemeanor drug charge for possession, but T.I says in the interview, though she has her own crutches, they are manageable.

“I don’t know. She went with me to some meetings and counseling. She ain’t got no problems,” he said. “Her thing is she smokes. Smoking weed is different than taking pain pills. You can smoke weed today and not smoke another blunt for another three months.”

As recently reported, the Atlanta rapper reached out to his fans from behind bars with a new blog post on his Trapmuzik.com website. T.I., who is currently serving his sentence in Arkansas, posted his thoughts online expressing his grief with his incarceration saying his sentence was, “a real a**  whoopin.”
