Music From and Inspired By The Original Motion Picture ‘For Colored Girls’ will be released on November 2, but you can preview TODAY by streaming over at Atlantic Records.

For Colored Girls may be the first Tyler Perry movie to be nominated for an Oscar. At least that’s what he hopes.

In an interesting plot twist the most powerful Black man in Hollywood  moved up the release date of For Colored Girls to November 5th. It was originally slated for a 2011 release but it appears that Perry wants to make the deadline for Oscar consideration.

For Colored Girls is based on Ntozake Shange’s award-winning 1975 For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide When the Rainbow Is Enuf. Comprised of a series of poems, the play revolves around seven women known only by their color dealing with issues of rape, abortion and domestic violence, among others.
