According to ESPN Miami Heat owner Micky Arison tweeted the news just after 9:30 p.m., and Allen’s decision was subsequently confirmed by his agent, James Tanner.

According to reports Allen left almost twice as much money behind in Boston to join the reigning champs. The Celtics recently grabbed shooter Jason Terry from the Dallas Mavericks, so they won’t be totally handicapped. But this is making some Celtics fans very unhappy.

Ray Allen began his career with the Milwaukee Bucks in 1996 and was traded to the Seattle Supersonics (now the Oklahoma City Thunder) in 2003. He stayed in Seattle until 2007 when he was traded to the Boston Celtics and created “The Big Three” with Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett. They, along with rising star Rajon Rondo, won a championship in 2008.
