After her untimely death, talks about Whitney Houston’s biopic are circulating and music business’ biggest names are vying for the role. News break in that none other than Rihanna is a frontrunner to play as Houston for the rumored film.
According to Daily Mail, Clive Davis who is Whitney’s close friend and music mentor is spearheading a project for the late singer. Davis reportedly wants to start the film as soon as possible.
Another prospect for the role includes actress/singer Jennifer Hudson, who also sang an emotional “I Will Always Love You” tribute at the 2012 Grammy Awards. Other names that surface are Megan Good, Jordin Sparks and Vivica Fox. Willow Smith may also take up the role as a young Whitney.
Although Rihanna has turned down an offer for the remake of “The Bodyguard” last year, movie producers remain hopeful that the “Talk That Talk” singer would be open for the role.
“I hate it when singers do singing movies all the time, because you can never look at them as anybody else. I want to play a character. My whole life is playing Rihanna; being a singer won’t be a stretch for me,” she once said in OK! magazine.
The singer was found dead in her Beverly Hills hotel on February 11 and cause of her death is still unknown. Yesterday at the 84th annual Academy Awards, Houston was honored along with Elizabeth Taylor and Apple’s co-founder Steve Jobs in the “In Memorium” montage.
