Lady Gaga, "Glee" Earn GLAAD Media Award Nominations

Lady Gaga and the “Glee” crew are among the entertainers being recognized by the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation.  The organization has announced the nominees for the 23rd annual Media Awards, which honor “outstanding images of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community in news coverage and entertainment media.  Gaga is up for the Outstanding Music Artist award, along with former contestant on “The Voice” Beverly McClellan, Girl in a Coma, Hunx and His Punx and MEN.  “Glee” is in the running for Outstanding Comedy Series with “The Big C,” “Exes and Ohs,” “Happy Endings” and “Modern Family.”  But GLAAD also handed out nods to a couple of first-timers.  Conan O’Brien’s TBS show is up for Outstanding Talk Show Episode after airing the first same-sex wedding on TV, while David Letterman is also in the running for his “Late Show” interview with Chaz Bono.  Likewise, Bono’s film “Becoming Chaz” is nominated in the Outstanding Documentary category.

Other Nominees include “Albert Nobbs,” “Beginners” and “J. Edgar” for Outstanding Film and “Degrassi,” “Grey’s Anatomy,” “Pretty Little Liars,” “Shameless” and “Torchwood: Miracle Day” for Outstanding Drama Series.  The GLAAD Media Awards will be handed out in multiple ceremonies, starting March 24th in New York City.  That will be followed by events in Los Angeles on April 21st and San Francisco on June 2nd.
