Young Money diva Nicki Minaj and her first ever performance on the island of Jamaica ended up having the Pink Friday rapper feeling a touch lighter in the pockets after breaking a Jamaican decency law this past Saturday. At the annual Reggae Sumfest in Montego Bay, Nicki Minaj thrilled the audience in the closing night of the celebrated festival with what reports say was an obscenities-laced performance and a direct violation of Jamaican law that forbids foul language in live performances.
After being served by Jamaican police as the festival winded down early Sunday morning, Nicki Minaj plead guilty to the charge which resulted in a fine of J$1,000 dollars – the equivalent of $11 American – and was paid by local attorney Hugh Thompson who entered ex parte guilty plea on behalf of the absent Nicki Minaj. The charge and small fine didn’t seem to put a dent in Nicki Minaj and her fun as the “Moment For Life” star tweeted gleefully on Sunday (July 24), “OMG!!! I swear I just had the TIME of my LIFE @ ReggaeSumFest in JAMAICA!!!!! Jamaica I fell in love tonite! WOWWW!!!!”
A stoked Nicki Minaj also tweeted a photo of herself alongside Jamaican dancehall star Beenie Man from Sumfest as well.
Nicki Minaj is still currently touring with Britney Spears and the Femme Fatale tour.
