Mama Monster is headed to the shelves of a bookseller near you. A coffee-table book featuring “intimate” portraits (Down boys, not those kinds of intimate portraits…) of Lady Gaga “as never before seen” — which we presume means she’ll actually be wearing pants and a sensible pair of shoes for once.
Simply titled Lady Gaga, the book will comprise photos taken by one of Lady G’s long-time friends, celebrity shutterbug Terry Richardson (pictured above). Richardson shadowed the “Born This Way” star for almost a year, taking over 100,000 images (that’s a lot!) of the eccentric hitmaker, beginning with her performance at the Lollapalooza Festival in Chicago in Aug. 2010 to her Grammy Award egg-arrival in February, to the end of her blockbuster Monster Ball Tour.
The book is described as “a visual dialogue between Lady Gaga and Terry Richardson, [showcasing] over 350 color and black-and-white photographs taken during the 10-month period in which Richardson followed Lady Gaga and had complete access to her everyday life, with nothing being off limits,” according to Grand Central Publishing, which will release the tome.
Hmm, sounds a little like Madonna’s Sex. That book of snaps, shot by photographer Steven Meisel, that caused a stir way back in 1992 to us, but then Lady G is a well-known Material Girl fan.
Lady Gaga herself will write the foreword to the book, which will hit retailers Nov. 22 — just in time for Black Friday. Yay!
