After months of taking losses (excluding his verses on Big Sean and A$AP Rocky‘s albums), Lil Wayne finally has some good news. He announced at Orlando’s Summer Jam that he’s signed with Roc Nation.

“I just signed a deal with my motherf***in’ idol, Jay Z,” Lil Wayne said.

It’s a loaded declaration for a number of reasons. First, Lil Wayne has been fighting for freedom from Cash Money. Has Cash Money relented and allowed Lil Wayne off his contract? Plus, it’s not clear whether Lil Wayne was talking about Roc Nation management or the record label. Whatever it is, it’s a deal with Jay Z.

Also, how is Jay Z Lil Wayne’s idol. Weren’t they in a cold rap war throughout last decade?

Anyway, we’ll update you on any developments.

UPDATE: It did seem off that Lil Wayne would suddenly be with Roc Nation. Weezy was actually referring to a deal with TIDAL. He’s already released a song on the service before, so it wouldn’t be a stretch to think that the Free Weezy Album will end up on there.
