Well, this is a new one.

Actress Stacey Dash has become known for her ultra conservative views, including calling rape victims “bad girls,” and inexplicably supporting Mitt Romney in the 2012 elections. Now, our favorite Clueless character is taking on the issue of gender inequality – specifically, the lack of equal pay for women.

While appearing on Wednesday’s The Meredith Vieira Show, Ms. Dash said that gender inequality is merely an “excuse.”

“It’s the same thing with race: It’s an excuse,” she said. “Stop making excuses. If there are opportunities, seize them and be prepared for them and be the best, if that’s what it takes. If you have to be extraordinary, then be extraordinary.”

When Vieira cited the statistics that women earn 78 cents for every dollar men make, Dash replied: “I know the numbers are true, but I feel like your daughter will be able to make as much money as she wants in her life, just like you are. I mean, look at you. The success you have.”

“If you want to be pissed off about it, then be pissed off about it and work harder for it,” she continued. “I will not be a victim.”

Meredith wasn’t having it, responding: “I’m not saying I’m a victim. I’m pissed off.”

We don’t think Ms. Dash actually gets the point. In this case, women are working harder – and still not getting compensated appropriately for it.

What’s your take on the situation? We can’t wait to see who Stacey stumps for in the upcoming presidential election…
