T-Pain thinks that Kanye West could be harming the quality of his sound by incorrectly using auto-tune.

With his catalogue, T-Pain has become Mr. Auto-tune himself, and thus is the authority on all matters of digitally modulating ones voice. Something he’s noticed over the course of the last few years is that his colleague needs a little help with his auto-tune technique.

“Kanye uses it, but he doesn’t use it correctly,” T-Pain critiqued to “Huffington Post Live” this week. “He makes great music with it, but the way that I use it and the way that I’ve shown Chris [Brown] and Jamie [Foxx] to use it, he doesn’t use it that way.”

The main problem T-Pain sees is that Kanye might just be doing things out of order in the auto-tune process, which leaves him vulnerable to a few different complications in production.

“[Kanye] sings without it first and then he puts [Auto-Tune] on after he’s done with the vocals…You don’t know how it’s going to come out. You can’t catch your mistakes before they happen. So sometimes it gets a little bit wobbly and things like that,” he pointed out. “[808’s and Heartbreak] was actually good but I had a lot to do with that album.”

Hopefully, Yeezy will take that as constructive criticism because T-Pain does not want another feud with rap royalty. He just got over his mini-beef with Jay Z.

From the sound of it, they were able to settle their differences on fairly friendly, familiar terms. “He ruffled my hair,” T-Pain recalled with a laugh. “He was like, ‘Oh, it’s alright.’ He was in front of Beyoncé so I was just like, ‘Alright. Thank you. Alright, I’m sorry.’ He said something to the effect of, ‘Don’t worry about it.’”
