Reggaeton star Don Omar faces four counts of domestic violence and two weapons violation charges following his arrest in Puerto Rico this week.

The singer was arrested around 1 a.m on Wednesday morning in a neighborhood of Vega Alta for allegedly threatening his girlfriend, local authorities told El Nuevo Día.

Don Omar was released late Wednesday night on $600,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on Sept. 29, AP reported.

The singer posted a Facebook status on Thursday that read, “And in bigger news … THE CIRCUS IS OVER! Back to work!” He also shared a message on twitter in Spanish that said, “An excess of clowns at the circus serves to make us laugh.” He added the hashtag, “Laugh.”

One of the singer’s legal representatives, Edwin Prado, said he found the bail “excessive” considering the charges, El Nuevo Herald reported.

“A $600,000 bail is a bail for murder,” Prado said as he left court.

According to AP, Lt. Aimee Alvarado said Don Omar’s 26-year-old partner told police that in August, he used his hands to hit her in the face and also threatened her with a gun. She also told police that Don Omar sent her text messages this month saying he was going to make sure that things would go badly for her and that he would end up killing her.

Don Omar has won 10 awards last year at the Billboard Latin Music Awards and has also appeared in several movies, including “Fast & Furious” in 2009.
