Veteran Journalist, UNC Professor Chuck Stone, Dies

Longtime journalist and educator Charles Sumner “Chuck” Stone Jr. – one of the founders of the National Association of Black Journalists, died Sunday at age 89. Allegra Stone said that her father died at an assisted-living facility in Chapel Hill where he was a journalism professor teaching censorship and magazine writing at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill for 14 years starting in 1991. Missing Teleka Patrick’s Body Possibly Found In Northern Indiana

The body of missing Kalamazoo doctor Teleka Patrick may have been found in a lake in Indiana on Sunday. A body was found in Lake Charles on Sunday morning. Police have yet to identify the body officially, but Patrick’s mother says that it was her daughter’s body. Another family member says that they hadn’t received confirmation yet. Read more.

Jesse Jackson Jr. Transferred To Alabama Prison After Dispute, Stint In Solitary Confinement

Jesse Jackson Jr. has been moved to an federal prison facility in Alabama following a dispute at the North Carolina prison where he was serving a 30-month sentence for misusing campaign funds. Family of the ex-Illinois congressman confirmed to ABC Chicago over the weekend that Jackson was transferred to a minimum-security federal prison in Montgomery following disputes at the North Carolina prison that led to Jackson being placed in solitary confinement.

The Bureau of Prisons declined to provide the Chicago Tribune specifics over Jackson’s transfer, citing privacy and security reasons. A source told the Chicago Sun-Times the 49-year-old Jackson was reportedly advising his fellow inmates about their rights in prison when a guard “took exception to that.” Jackson was then placed in solitary confinement for five days more than a month ago. Couple Arrested For Fighting Before Scheduled Appearance On ‘Maury’     

Hours before a Chicago couple was scheduled to make an appearance on “Maury,” they were arrested for fighting at a Connecticut hotel. According to The Hour newspaper, Shantae McGhee-Brown, 25, and John Coley, 46, were carted off to a nearby police station late Tuesday night after police officers responded to a 911 call from the Doubletree Hotel in Norwalk, Connecticut regarding a domestic disturbance.
